EU environmental ministers proposed measures to cut waste and improve the efficiency of their reuse at the meeting where the related EU action plan was reviewed, the statement said.

The goals in focus include the idea that products, materials and resources should have longer life cycles and keep their value as long as possible to reduce waste, it said. The targeted goals and measures need to be based on impact studies, with a view to the economic-social situation and waste management opportunities of individual countries, it added. Hungary also supports a closer integration of economic and environmental policy, especially if these are paired with job creation, improvements in competitiveness and social welfare and living standards, the statement said.
